I offer psychotherapy that typically combines EMDR, Ego State and Somatic Therapies, and Early Trauma/Preverbal work depending on the needs of the client. I work in the intensive format, usually three full days?

How does Sandra charge?

Accepted Answer

My rates are $2400 a day (360 face to face minutes, excluding breaks), so three days is $7200 USD.

Question 3

Who is appropriate for intensive treatment?

Accepted Answer

Not everyone thrives with intensive work. Those who are highly structurally dissociative, as in DID (dissociative identity disorder), typically would do better in a regular weekly format.

Does Dr Paulsen accept insurance or have a payment plan?

My practice is pay in full for services rendered just prior to the intensive. On request you can get an insurance form that you can submit to your insurance company, by contacting my bookkeeper at vsplinter@gmail.com.  Many people need to save up prior to having the intensive instead  of  having another kind of payment plan.

How do we proceed?

After registering as a Client, send a secure message through the Client Portal to Sandra explaining your goals in seeking treatment.  After a brief discussion there, Sandra will offer a date and time for an intake appointment by zoom to make sure it is wise to proceed to schedule an intensive.

How does the deposit work?

A deposit is required of $2000 payable on the day we schedule your intensive. There is a payment portal on the CLIENT page at paulsenpsychology.com. The balance of $5200.00 USD is due just prior to the intensive.

Question 7

Should I tell my regular therapist?

Accepted Answer

Sandra only does intensive work with clients who have a regular therapist or one on call who agrees that the intensive is a good idea and who will provide support as needed prior to and after the intensive. The therapist can send a brief email to sandra@paulsenphd.com using only client initials or first name to indicate their support and any information Sandra should have.  That email is not secure for patients to use; use the Patient Portal instead.

What shall I expect?

During the intensive, it’s best to plan nothing else but self care on the days of the intensive. The intensive is not always emotionally intense but can be so.  There might be vivid dreams or delayed processing after the intensive.

Can I be guaranteed a cure?

Accepted Answer

It would be unwise and unethical for Sandra to guarantee complete resolution of symptoms, but nearly everyone is happy with significant changes well accomplished.

I’m out of touch with emotions and body sensations. Can I benefit?

Those who are “out of touch” with emotions and body sensations may wish to get on low dose naltrexone 4.5 mg (LDN), prior to the intensive,  which enables better discernment for many people.  LDN requires a ramp-up period for many people, so starting two months ahead is best. If the prescriber agrees, taking the LDN at the beginning of the treatment day is best. Some clinicians use more than one dose a day to keep blood levels high during the day for best results, so bringing a few extra may be wise, again if the prescriber agrees. Ask Sandra for written information for prescribers.

Where does Sandra practice?

Accepted Answer

My office is in a retreat-like setting on Bainbridge Island, WA. You’ll make your own lodging arrangements; most stay at Marshall Suites or a Bed and Breakfast. Bainbridge is a tourist destination. Being an island, taxis and Ubers/Lyfts are limited, so schedule ahead if you aren’t renting a car. Most rent a car.
